Thury-Harcourt is a town in the Calvados
department in the Basse-Normandie region of northern France.
Located in the valley of the river l 'Orne, Thury-Harcourt is
24 kms south of Caen. The surrounding hills of Clécy and
the Roche are in striking contrast to the plateau located further
north. Saint Sauveur is a Romanesque XII century church in the
centre of the town. It suffered from the bombings of the summer
of 1944 but was saved from destruction and is now restored to
what it was before the war. |
