Saumur Loire

Saumur is a town in the Maine-et-Loire
department in the Pays de Loire. The historic town is located
between the Loire and Thouet rivers, which join to the west of
the town. Saumur is home to the Cadre Noir, the National School
of Horsemanship, known for its annual horse shows. There is also
a tank museum, the Musée des Blindés, with more
than 850 armored vehicles. The Château de Saumur overlooks
the confluence of the Loire and the Thouet and was originally
constructed in the tenth century as a fortified stronghold against
the Normans. Following its destruction in 1067, the château
was rebuilt by Henry II of England in the later twelfth century. |

food and wine. The magnificent Renaissance chateaux of Chambord

and Beaugency lie along the banks of the river, while the cathedral
cities of le Mans and Chartres are to the north of the region.
River cruises are available from Angers and Nantes while the
sandy Atlantic coast offers beach holidays. |

An old house (110 m2), typical for the Loire area, on a forestry
terrain of 5000m2 (to be shared with the owner). The house is
fully renovated; it is located opposite the vineyards of the
'Château dEternes, which lies 50 m lower. Culture trips
can be made to the Loire castles in the neighbourhood, to the
Abbey of Fontevraud (7km) and the many caves. For sporting activities
on the water is Montsoveau, an excellent starting point. Karting
possible in the area.
