Rue is a town in the Somme departement
in the Picardie region of France. It is a large town situated
about 15 miles north of Abbeville, on the junction of the D938,
D4 and D85 roads. The chapel of the Holy Spirit (1440-1514) is
one of the finest examples of flamboyant Gothic in Picardie,
with a richly carved facade and vaults decorated with hanging
keys. The city also has a belfry with a museum dedicated to the
aviation pioneers of Picardie, the Caudron brothers. |

Picardy is in northern France, lying
south of the Nord-Pas de Calais region. Cathedrals are the main
appeal of this region, with the Cathedral Notre-Dame in its capital
Amiens, a pinnacle of the Gothic style. More splendid examples
can be seen at Beauvais, Noyon, Senlis and in the hilltop town
of Laon. The chateaux at Chantilly and Compiegne are both spectacular
visitor attractions. |
