Pons is a charming medieval town in
the Charente Maritime department, situated 20 km south of Saintes
and 100 km north of Bordeaux, between Jonzac and Saintes. Pons
is a pretty town, complete with castle keep and pilgrims' hospital.
The town was built on the summit and the slopes of a steep rock
and its shores are lapped by the river Seugne. There are interesting
walks around the town through ancient alleyways and the gardens
around the Town hall. |

sandy beaches are an attraction to this area, while inland the
lush countryside offers fine architecture, navigable waterways

of the Bordelais and the Cognac, you will spend wonderful days.
Beautifully furnished, with all the necessities. There is much
to discover in the surrounding, such as the beach (within hour)
and the hinterland. And the nature, cosy cities (Bordeaux, Angoulême,
Rochefort, Royan) and excellent gastronomy which is surely not
a shortage here.
