Mirambeau is in the Charente-Maritime
department of the Poitou -Charentes region. Just15 km from Jonzac,
the lively little market town is in a wonderful location, as
it lies close to the coast. The landscape is fairly flat, and
in season are hectares of tall golden sunflowers stretching as
far as the eye can see, and neat vineyards heavy with their crop
of grapes ready to be turned into pineau or cognac, both of which
are famous and delicious drinks from this region. The Saturday
morning market is a delight, with stalls full of fresh locally
produced fruit and vegetables, charcuterie, cheeses, wines and
waxed tablecloths. |

Aquitaine lies in the south-western
part of France, along the Atlantic Ocean and the Pyrenees mountain

to the south by Spain, to the east by Midi-Pyrénées,
to the north by Poitou-Charentes and Limousin and to the west

Bordeaux. The Landes Forest, the largest pine forest in Western

area close to Royan, between the grapevines of Bordelais and
the Cognac, where you can spend wonderful days. It is a pleasant
