Caumont-l'Éventé is
located in the Calvados department in Low Normandy, in northern
France. It lies to the west of the department, an equal distance
between Bayeux and Saint-Lô of 21km, 33km from Caen and
28km from Vire. "Le Souterroscope des Ardoisières"
is an attraction to be found on the western edge of the village
of Caumont l’Eventé. Closed since the start of the
20th century the slate stone quarries at Caument have been given
a new lease of life with a subterranean voyage of discovery through
400 metres of galleries, culminating in a ‘son-et-lumière’
and an underground rainbow – the Arc en Terre as the showpiece. |
