Aix-les-Bains is a town in the Savoie
department in the Rhône-Alpes region. It lies near the
Lac du Bourget, 9 km by rail north of Chambéry, at an
altitude of about 250m. It stretches along the eastern end of
the beautiful Lac du Bourget and up the slopes above the lake.
The western shore of the lake is narrower as the mountains along
its edge are closer to the lakeshore. Aix Les Bains is situated
in the hilly country that makes up the foothills of the Alps
and also forms part of the lower western extension of the Jura
Mountains. The hot sulphur springs have a temperature of 43-45°C
and attract thousands of visitors every year. |

To the north are the famous Beaujolais vineyards, to the south
chateaux and ancient towns dot the landscape, to the west the
Ardeche offers rugged wilderness, canoeing and climbing while
the Alps are a favourite destination for sports enthusiasts. |

swimmingpool (8,5 x 4, that can be used from May until the end
of Octobor; by paying an extra-charge the pool can be warmed
for the beginning and the end of the season). Cosy chalet, ideal
for families with children who would like to discover the unspoilt
moutains. Lake at 3km (Lac du Mariet), major cross country centre
at 10km (Le Revard, 150km cross country slopes and 50km ski slopes,
dog sled-trips...) and alpine ski at 10km (Les Aillons and Margeriaz)
or one hour from the famous slopes of the Ménuires, Meribel
and Courchevel. The city of Aix-les-Bains with large `Lac du
Bourget` is 25km. There are numerous outdoor activities awaiting
you if you enjoy going by bike, oar, parapent, boat... and even
doing some speleology! Sportive or relaxing, with friends or
family, this holiday is made for you. The swimmingpool can be
heated on request with a supplement. |
